From the Classroom to the Community: ALPHABETICA Showcased at the PMOE PROA+ Best Practices Conference

On 4 June 2026, teachers from Institut Escola El Viver presented one of the arts-based and plurilingual experiences developed within the ALPHABETICA PLURART pilot at the PMOE PROA+ Best Practices Conference (Jornada de Bones Pràctiques), held in Castellar del Vallès (Spain). The initiative was presented on the teachers’ own initiative through a poster showcasing the project’s innovative approach to inclusive education.

The featured activity involved early childhood education students and their families, using the picture book Què dius? as a starting point. Families translated the story into their home languages and recorded audio versions, allowing children to experience the same story in the many languages represented in their classroom. The activity celebrated linguistic diversity while recognising every language as a valuable learning resource.

Inspired by the book, families and children also created insects from natural materials to build a symbolic plurilingual garden, sharing their languages, cultures, and creativity throughout the process.

The experience reflects the goals of the ALPHABETICA PLURART pilot, showing how arts-based and plurilingual pedagogies can strengthen school–family partnerships, promote children’s participation, and foster a stronger sense of belonging.

The presentation attracted considerable interest from educators attending the conference, highlighting the project’s potential to inspire more inclusive, community-centred educational practices and demonstrating how teachers can play a key role in sharing and scaling innovative approaches.
