Small moments create beautiful memories

Taking place on weekends in July 2026, ALPHABETICA’s Our Caring World through Art (OCWA) pilot action was led by artist-researcher Dr Kremie Dimitrova, in collaboration with consultant dance artist Sadie Hunt. Together, they ran a series of arts-in-nature co-creative workshops for children and their families at Edmonton Green Library Community Garden in North London, UK.

Following on from the popular summer arts club, OCWA held a Buzz-Causing grand opening unveiling of Our Bug Mania Hotel as part of a Summer Reading Challenge event at the library. The hotel was co-created by children and their families using natural materials such as leaves, wood, stones, clay and bricks. One of the participating children said, “It’s the best bug hotel in the whole wide world!”.

OCWA facilitated arts-based workshop sessions, happening alongside other creative activities at the library. There were Bug-Tastic, Excell-Ant, and Un-Bee-Lievable masks, arts, crafts, music, singing, and dancing enjoyed by more than 100 participants “in our secret garden under the towers” (Bug Mania Hotel co-creative song) uniting the world & nature.

The Oxford Brookes University and The Open University were delighted to be part of this exciting event at Edmonton Green Library Community Garden.
