As part of the ALPHABETICA pilot action OCWA (Our Caring World Through Art), Year 7 students took part in an inspiring extended reality (XR) experience at The Open University in Milton Keynes.

Dr Roxanne Korda, along with fellow artist and research consultant Dr Daniel Blanco Albert, have been working with this group of students for the 25/26 academic year to co-create a short animated film. The young people’s imagination and interests were platformed as key resources for inspiration in the creation of the work together. The short play and characters they developed display their interest in internet culture, as well as the critical view on how it is affecting their lives.

On the day the students also worked with other researchers in the ALPHABETICA team, and the talented staff at the XR Studio. They had access to a high-tech, real- life example of where a career in the arts can lead you. Throughout the day, the students demonstrated creativity, confidence, and teamwork, engaging with cutting-edge technology and contributing to internationally significant research.

This ‘Behind the Scenes’ video below was created as a documentation of the day and the impact it had on the participants and collaborators.
